Insider Daniel Richtman reported that Marvel Studios encountered difficulties in forming the cast for the “X-Men” reboot. Due to prolonged negotiations, the studio might not be able to present the entire team at D23:
“Marvel has had some issues with casting for X-Men, so I'm not sure if the cast will be announced at D23. It all depends on whether they manage to sign contracts with everyone.”
One such problem could have been the alleged departure of Charles Melton. Shortly before this, Richtman stated that the actor had turned down the role of Hank McCoy, also known as Beast. The source did not disclose the reason, although Melton himself had recently enthusiastically reacted to the possibility of joining the “X-Men”:
“Absolutely. Yes, absolutely, I'm interested in that. That would be cool. That's a dream. A real dream.”
Marvel has not officially confirmed negotiations with Melton or promised to present the “X-Men” cast at D23. However, rumors of a possible team announcement have been actively circulating in recent weeks.
