Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick stated that the company has no plans to become part of Netflix. His comment came amidst preparations for a special screening of Grand Theft Auto VI, which the streaming service will host in late August.
In an interview with CNBC, Zelnick spoke about the cooperation between Take-Two and Netflix. According to him, the companies have already concluded "a whole series of deals", which has led to a strong partnership between them. At the same time, the head of Take-Two made it clear that he does not expect the publisher to be acquired by Netflix.
Answering a question about potential offers from Netflix to buy Take-Two, Zelnick noted that the streaming giant has historically preferred organic growth over large acquisitions.
I think we're very proud of how we've built this company on our own. We are now the largest publicly traded independent company in the gaming industry in the world [...] I think if any company deserves to remain independent, it's us.
He also emphasized Take-Two's financial stability. According to him, the company expects to generate over $8 billion in revenue this year and continues to regularly make a profit.
