Supermassive Games Conducts Another Round of Layoffs

News 1

Supermassive Games has announced layoffs. Up to 75 employees could potentially be affected by the cuts.

In a statement released by the studio, it was stated that the layoffs are "a necessary step to ensure the company's sustainability". Supermassive Games also emphasized that it understands how difficult this period will be for employees and intends to provide support to everyone affected by the restructuring.

This is the third major wave of layoffs at Supermassive Games in the last three years. In July 2025, the studio cut 36 jobs amidst the postponement of the horror game Directive 8020 from October 2025 to May 2026. At that time, the developers explained the decision by the complex and constantly changing situation in the gaming industry and the need to adapt the team structure.

Another major wave of layoffs occurred in February 2024 – at that time, the company reported approximately 90 employees affected by the redundancy consultation process. Supermassive Games again cited serious challenges in the gaming industry and stated its intention to focus on its core competencies and future projects.

Thus, over two and a half years, more than 200 employees have potentially been affected by layoffs at Supermassive Games.
