Crunchyroll has acquired the international distribution rights for Makoto Shinkai's new feature-length anime. Together with Sony Pictures Entertainment, the company will release the film in all regions outside of Asia.
The title, plot, and premiere date have not yet been revealed. In January, Shinkai stated that he would present a new work by the end of 2026, so the first details may emerge in the coming months.
Crunchyroll and Sony Pictures previously handled the international distribution of "Suzume". The film grossed approximately $323 million, participated in the main competition of the Berlin Film Festival, and received a Golden Globe nomination.
Meanwhile, an updated version of "Your Name" has been prepared for its tenth anniversary, with its release in select countries beginning on August 14.
