Shochiku film company has unveiled an action trailer for the anime "The Banished Wizard Enjoys a Carefree Second Life". The new video is entirely dedicated to battles and showcases the abilities of Flambert, Margaret, Els, and Mirabelle.
The events unfold in an unusual fantasy world where magic coexists with firearms, yakuza, and technologies capable of weakening magical abilities. The main character, Rein, served for years in a guild as a support mage, enhancing his comrades' weapons and armor. When his companions deemed him useless and expelled him, he removed the enchantments from all their equipment and reclaimed the accumulated upgrade points. Rein invested the acquired power into cheap clothes and an ordinary copper sword, then set off to find a new life.
The production is handled by P.A.WORKS, known for "Maquia: When the Promised Flower Blooms" and "Shirobako". Osamu Honma serves as the director, Yoko Yoneyama is responsible for the script, and Yuto Kiyosawa prepared the character designs.
The series is based not on Asa Rokushima's original novels, but on their manga adaptation with illustrations by Gyomuyo Mochi. This is a significant difference: according to Rokushima himself, the manga's plot deviates from the original source by approximately 99% and presents a much crazier version of the story.
The premiere of "The Banished Wizard Enjoys a Carefree Second Life" will take place in October 2026. The exact date has not yet been announced.
