After 17 years, an update for King's Bounty: Armored Princess has been released - with improvements for modern PCs, Steam Deck, and achievements
Another installment of the King's Bounty franchise has received an update.
In August, an update for King's Bounty: Armored Princess (or "King's Bounty. Princess in Armor" in the Russian localization) was released on PC in Steam. It is already available in the main branch of the game.
Fulqrum Publishing announced that the game has been adapted for modern devices and systems, including Steam Deck. This update includes QoL improvements ("quality of life"), as well as achievements — players will be able to get 74 "achievements" in their collection.
The developers also warned about a technical nuance: when loading old saves, the system will check if the achievement conditions have been met. Players are recommended to start a new game if they want to unlock achievements gradually:
[...] we would like to warn you right away. "Princess in Armor" is, to put it mildly, not a new game, and adding achievements required the use of street-technical magic. The system analyzes your save files to determine if the conditions for obtaining achievements have already been met, so when loading an old save, some of them may open immediately. We recommend starting a new campaign from the very beginning to avoid such embarrassments.
King's Bounty: Armored Princess also now supports Steam Workshop (user modifications). The franchise games are currently participating in the Steam festival — discounts will be valid until August 19.
The developers thanked fans for their support and also noted that they are starting to work on "King's Bounty. Crossworlds" — QoL improvements, new unique achievements, and much more are expected.
