It Takes Two and Split Fiction Developer Prepares Co-op Project Orbitals for Switch 2
The co-op puzzle game Orbitals from Tokyo studio Shapefarm, featuring ex-Hazelight developer Jakob Lundgren, will be released on Nintendo Switch 2 on September 3, 2026.
Nintendo, in a new Creator's Voice episode, showcased the co-op project Orbitals, detailing the game's development.
Orbitals is being developed by Tokyo studio Shapefarm. Jakob Lundgren, who previously worked at Hazelight Studios on A Way Out, It Takes Two, and Split Fiction, is also involved in the game. He is now applying his experience to a project originally designed for two players.
The developers emphasize communication. Orbitals uses asymmetrical mechanics: players often perform completely different tasks but must constantly interact. Lundgren notes that the game will be accessible and "never overly difficult," so the main goal is to find solutions together.
The game will feature more puzzles than classic platforming episodes. The developers also intentionally made the adventure shorter so that most players can reach the end.
Orbitals will be released on September 3, 2026, for Nintendo Switch 2.
