The disc version of Marvel's Wolverine can be played without a day-one patch, but developers recommend downloading it anyway
Despite Sony's plans to fully transition to digital releases for new games starting January 2028, Marvel's Wolverine from Insomniac Games will be released with a full physical edition. Moreover, the disc content will allow players to complete the game without an obligatory internet connection.
As project lead Jess Reiner-Reed told Eurogamer, the physical version of Marvel’s Wolverine will be fully functional immediately after installation from the disc.
Marvel’s Wolverine will be released in digital and physical versions, and the game will be fully available on disc upon purchase.
However, the developers still recommend installing the day-one patch. Insomniac will continue to work on the game until release, fixing bugs and improving various elements of the project.
The studio's Head of Technology, Mike Fitzgerald, noted that the team strives to use all available time before release to polish the game. According to him, the developers are constantly trying to improve even small details, so the day-one patch will allow players to get an even more polished version of Marvel’s Wolverine.
