Compulsion Games is self-publishing its action-adventure game South of Midnight on Steam. Previously, Xbox Game Studios was listed as the publisher for the project on the platform.
The change occurred on August 11. This is also confirmed by the change history of the game's page on SteamDB: South of Midnight's publisher was changed from Xbox Game Studios to Compulsion Games.
The changes happened shortly after massive layoffs at Microsoft. In July, the company announced the closure of five studios and the dismissal of thousands of employees. Among the affected divisions was Compulsion Games, which subsequently received the opportunity to continue operating as an independent entity.
After this, representatives of the studio announced they were looking for partners to develop new projects. Now, Compulsion Games, judging by the changes on Steam, has also taken on the self-publishing of South of Midnight on PC.
However, it is currently unknown whether the new publisher status extends to the console versions of the game. No changes have been found on the respective platforms yet.
