A new report from analytics company Alinea Analytics indicates a very successful launch for Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls. According to Rhys Elliott, Head of Market Analytics at Alinea Analytics, the fighting game could have sold around 485,000 copies in just its first week since release.
According to the analyst, sales were distributed across platforms as follows: 74% came from PlayStation 5, and the remaining 26% from PC on Steam. This ratio is explained by the traditionally higher popularity of fighting games on consoles. Additionally, the launch of the PC version of Marvel Tōkon was accompanied by technical issues that could have negatively impacted player reviews and word-of-mouth recommendations.
Elliott believes that without the PC version's problems, the game could potentially have approached the one million copies sold mark. A recent update, which fixed a significant portion of the technical glitches, could theoretically help the project regain popularity.
