Kadokawa has released the sixth character trailer for the anime "Sekiro: No Defeat". This time, the video is dedicated to Hanbei the Undying – a mysterious warrior who cannot be permanently killed by ordinary weapons.

In Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, Hanbei resides near an abandoned temple and offers the Wolf to use him for training. With his help, players master parrying, dodging, and counter-attacks, and after each fatal injury, the warrior returns to life.

Akimitsu Takase returned to the role of Hanbei. The actor recalled that while working on the game, he perceived the character as an unnamed training opponent who was destined to die at the player's hand again and again:

"About eight years ago, I recorded a role that meant something like 'an undying fallen warrior.' Apparently, he was a training dummy. And then he got the name Hanbei, and now he's made it to anime."

Previously, Hanbei was also featured in a separate manga, Sekiro Side Story: Hanbei the Undying, which detailed the warrior's past before meeting the Wolf.

"Sekiro: No Defeat" is produced by Qzil.la studio. Kenichi Kutsuna is the director, Takuya Sato wrote the script, and Takashi Mukoda is in charge of fight choreography. The anime's theatrical release in Japan will begin on September 4, 2026, and will run for three weeks. Later, the project will appear on Crunchyroll, but the digital premiere date has not yet been announced.
