TOHO Animation has released a new trailer for the third season of "The Apothecary Diaries," revealed key posters, and announced the exact premiere date — October 2, 2026.
In the third season, the story will venture beyond the imperial palace: first, Maomao will head to the city streets, and then to a neighboring country. The new investigation will begin at breakfast when locusts are served, and Maomao suspects something is amiss. Meanwhile, Jinshi will have to take on the duties of the emperor's younger brother and deal with the omens of an impending disaster for the country.
OLM is responsible for the production of the third season. Akinori Fudesaka is the director, Norihiro Naganuma is handling the series composition, and Yuko Kakihara, Misuzu Chiba, and Hitomi Ogawa are writing the scripts. Music is composed by Satoru Kosaki, Kevin Penkin, and Arisa Okehazama.
The third season will be divided into two parts. The first part will start on October 2, and the second will begin airing in April 2027. In between, on December 11, 2026, the anime "The Apothecary Diaries: The Late Concubine's Hidden Treasure" will be released in Japanese cinemas.
