Executive producer and writer of the animated series "Star Wars: Darth Maul - Lord of Darkness," Matt Michnovetz, announced at the D23 festival that the second season will be released in 2027. He did not share other details but advised viewers to "get ready."
Lucasfilm ordered the continuation even before the first episodes were released, as they were confident in the project's success in advance. Earlier, Sam Witwer, who voices Maul, said that production on the second season began "some time ago," so viewers won't have to wait too long for the character's return.
The first season of "Lord of Darkness" was released in April 2026 and received 98% positive reviews from critics and 93% from the audience on Rotten Tomatoes. The action takes place after the end of the Clone Wars and Order 66. Maul tries to rebuild a criminal syndicate on the planet Janix, which has not yet been touched by the Empire's power. There, the former Sith meets Padawan Devon Izaru, disillusioned with the Order, and decides to make her his apprentice.
