Highly-rated city-building simulator from former Ubisoft developer released on iOS and Android
Dawnfolk by Darenn Keller received 94% positive reviews on Steam.
Short Circuit Studio has released the mobile version of the minimalistic city-building simulator Dawnfolk. The game is available on the App Store and Google Play for 699 and 690 rubles, respectively. iOS users can try the project for free before purchasing, while this option is not available on Google Play.
Dawnfolk is set in a medieval world consumed by darkness. The player takes on the role of a defeated ruler who must restore their lands and reclaim them from the darkness. The project combines city-building simulation with elements of survival, strategy, and tile-based puzzles: players explore the world, gather resources, develop settlements, play mini-games, and make decisions that affect the fate of the inhabitants.
Dawnfolk was created by Darenn Keller, a former Ubisoft employee who worked on the Assassin's Creed and Ghost Recon series. The game was originally released on Steam in February 2025. At the time of publication, it has 94% positive reviews after more than 650 user reviews. The project was also nominated for System Design at IndieCade 2024 and for Game Design at the Indie Game Awards 2025, where it was in the same category as Hades II and Hollow Knight: Silksong.
