Marvel's Wolverine criticism debunked: journalists reveal the truth after 2.5 hours of gameplay
Journalists spent about 2.5 hours with Marvel's Wolverine and refuted the wave of criticism against the game.
Marvel's Wolverine has been at the center of heated discussions for several days. After the first gameplay showcases, the internet was flooded with critical comments and short videos claiming that the new Insomniac Games title was full of QTEs, had an overly simple combat system, and forced players to sneak.
Journalists who spent about 2.5 hours with the game claim that many of the complaints are unfounded.
According to them, Marvel's Wolverine is a linear action game with dynamic battles and cinematic storytelling. The combat system includes combos, skill development, and different playstyles.
The criticism of QTEs also turned out to be exaggerated. In 2.5 hours, journalists counted only six such episodes. Stealth is completely optional – most of the time you can fight directly.
The game will feature a rage system, custom builds using the "Adaptation" module, over 25 costumes, and "Nightmare Gates" challenges.
The release on PS5 is scheduled for September 15, 2026.
