In the new Street Fighter adaptation, fans of the series will find many familiar details. According to Noah Centineo, who plays Ken, director Kitao Sakurai and the actors carefully studied the games and tried to bring as many small details to the screen as possible:
"If you're a fan of the games, I think you'll recognize hundreds of Easter eggs, lines, signature moves, and all those little things that Kitao and every actor studied and tried to squeeze into the film."
Centineo himself describes Street Fighter as a deliberately insane action movie that perfectly understands what it is:
"This movie is damn fun and big. You can see that we had a great time filming, and the audience will have just as much fun. It's a huge, spectacular, high-octane action movie. It understands what it is."
The film's action will unfold in 1993. After a long-standing feud, Ryu and Ken Masters will reunite thanks to Chun-Li, who invites them to the World Warrior tournament. However, a conspiracy by M. Bison hides behind the competition, forcing the former friends to confront each other and their own past.
In addition to Centineo, the film stars Kallina Liang as Chun-Li, David Dastmalchian as M. Bison, Cody Rhodes as Guile, and Jason Momoa as Blanka. Kitao Sakurai directed the film.
The premiere of "Street Fighter" will take place on October 16, 2026.
