Disney and Lucasfilm are not in a hurry to bring back Obi-Wan Kenobi. Ewan McGregor admitted that he hasn't heard of any progress on the second season of the series, although he still wants to play the Jedi again:
"Come on, Disney. I don't think we're any closer. I don't know of any progress in that direction, but I'd like to believe it will happen someday."
According to McGregor, there is still plenty of room for new stories in Obi-Wan's biography. The events of the first season took place approximately nine years before "A New Hope," leaving a large gap between the series and the original trilogy.
McGregor is currently about ten years younger than Alec Guinness was during the filming of "A New Hope," so he would like to gradually bring his version of Obi-Wan closer to the image of the Jedi from the classic film.
Moreover, McGregor has no intention of leaving Star Wars at all. According to the actor, he is ready to play Obi-Wan for the rest of his career if he continues to be offered to return to the role.
"Obi-Wan Kenobi" was released on Disney+ in 2022. The project was originally conceived as a miniseries with a complete story, and a continuation has not yet been officially announced.
