On August 18, reports spread online that Sebastian Stan had allegedly confirmed his role as Harvey Dent in "The Batman Part II". The reason was an interview with the French publication Le Journal du Dimanche, which was quoted by many media outlets. However, journalists later edited the material and removed the mention of the character.
In the original version, Stan was attributed the following words: "I also can't say anything about Matt Reeves' 'The Batman 2', where I play Harvey Dent". After the correction, the phrase ends with the actor stating he cannot discuss the film. The mention of Harvey Dent is no longer in the interview.
Le Journal du Dimanche did not separately explain the reason for the changes, so it is unknown where the character's name came from in the original text: it could have been a journalistic error, a mistranslation, or an misinterpretation of Stan's words. The actor himself, after years of working on Marvel films, has become accustomed to avoiding spoilers and had not previously revealed his role in the sequel.
Thus, Stan's character officially remains unknown. Earlier, insider Jeff Sneider claimed that the actor would play serial killer Victor Zsasz, and the role of Harvey Dent went to Brian Tyree Henry. Warner Bros. and DC Studios have not confirmed this information.
"The Batman Part II" will also feature Robert Pattinson, Scarlett Johansson, Colin Farrell, Andy Serkis, Jeffrey Wright, Charles Dance, and Sebastian Koch. The premiere is scheduled for February 18, 2028.
