Players will get communication tools and a convenient way to exchange items.

The creators of the underwater survival game Subnautica 2 are preparing to release the next update. In update 1.2 "Buddy System," they will introduce various features for player interaction.

For example, players will have the opportunity to experience the first version of proximity voice chat. The chat works with distance binding: as players move away from each other, the sound effect will change, and audibility will worsen. The developers will collect feedback on the feature.

In addition, Unknown Worlds Entertainment has implemented an emote system that allows players to communicate: clap, show anger, etc.

In the presented developer diary, you can see examples of Subnautica 2 gameplay with this system, as well as several new characters:

Update 1.2 for Subnautica 2 includes a convenient item exchange system: a player can open another user's inventory (they will receive a notification about this) and drag the necessary items. A character revival system will also be available.

The release of update 1.2 for Subnautica 2 is expected on August 19. Unknown Worlds Entertainment has not yet published the full patch notes.
