The record has not yet been officially registered, but Reynolds has already conceded defeat to "Deadpool & Wolverine."

Ryan Reynolds congratulated the "Odyssey" team on a new world record. According to the actor, Christopher Nolan's film has already surpassed "Deadpool & Wolverine" to become the highest-grossing R-rated film in history:

"Congratulations to the entire cast and crew of 'Odyssey' for becoming the highest-grossing R-rated film of all time. And the car is a beast."

With the last phrase, Reynolds played on the name of the Honda Odyssey minivan. In "Deadpool & Wolverine," Wade Wilson initially mocks the car, but after a prolonged fight with Logan inside the vehicle, he takes back his words. The actor attached a video to his congratulatory message, which intersperses scenes from "Odyssey" with this scene from "Deadpool & Wolverine."

Open box office databases have not yet registered the new record. As of publication, Box Office Mojo indicates "Odyssey's" worldwide gross at $1.302 billion, compared to "Deadpool & Wolverine's" final $1.338 billion. However, data for Nolan's film has not been updated since Monday and does not yet include earnings for the past four days.

Judging by Reynolds' congratulatory message, "Odyssey" has managed to overcome the missing $36 million during this time and snatch the record from "Deadpool & Wolverine." Now, all that remains is to await updated box office data.
