LAIKA Studios has unveiled a new trailer for the stop-motion fantasy "The Wildwood". The film's world premiere will take place on October 23, and it will reach Russian cinemas on December 3.
The new film from the creators of "Coraline" tells the story of Prue McKeel, who lives near Portland and one day loses her younger brother. The boy is abducted by a flock of crows and carried away into the Impassable Wilderness – a mysterious forest whose existence most people are unaware of.
Prue sets off after her brother with her clumsy classmate Curtis. In the forest, they discover a whole world with talking animals, bandits, and other unusual inhabitants, and the search for the boy gradually draws the heroes into a struggle for the future of the Impassable Wilderness.
"The Wildwood" will be the longest full-length stop-motion film in history, with a runtime of approximately 140 minutes. The previous record belonged to Guillermo del Toro's "Pinocchio", which was 117 minutes long.
The main characters are voiced by Peyton Elizabeth Lee and Jacob Tremblay. Other cast members include Carey Mulligan, Mahershala Ali, Angela Bassett, Awkwafina, Richard E. Grant, and others.
The director and producer of "The Wildwood" is LAIKA President Travis Knight, who previously directed "Kubo and the Two Strings", "Bumblebee", and "Masters of the Universe".
