CloverWorks has unveiled the trailer for ÆLIENS — the first of three standalone stories that will be part of the feature-length anime anthology GROTESQQQUE.
The action of ÆLIENS unfolds on Earth, where contact with other planets has become a reality. The alien girl Eli arrives as a goodwill ambassador and, together with a space agency employee, tries to find friends among humans. However, Earthlings still treat aliens with fear and prejudice, which greatly complicates her mission.
Atsushi Nishigori, who also developed the character concept and oversees the entire anthology, directed and wrote ÆLIENS. He previously directed "Darling in the Franxx" and served as chief animation director for "Evangelion: 3.0+1.01."
The second story is titled 4649GIRL. It tells of gyaru girls participating in a brutal tournament in a city of eternal night. This part was directed by Takahiro Miura, director of "Fate/stay night: Unlimited Blade Works."
The third story, NOCTURN, is dedicated to a pure-blood vampire and three girls she infected. After the demise of humanity, the heroines travel in a van through a desolate world. Nishigori once again directed this part.
GROTESQQQUE will be released in Japanese cinemas on November 6. There has been no announcement yet regarding international distribution.
