Dave Bautista Becomes the New Kratos in the God of War Series - Filming to Restart
Amazon and Sony have found a replacement for Ryan Hurst, who dropped out of the project due to a serious injury.
According to Deadline, Dave Bautista has officially been cast as Kratos in the God of War series from Amazon MGM Studios and Sony Pictures Television. He will replace Ryan Hurst, who tore his biceps and underwent surgery, after which he will require a long recovery.
By the time of the injury, the team had managed to film four episodes with Hurst, but now production will effectively restart. Preparations will resume in August, and they plan to return to the set in Vancouver in mid-October. Frédéric Tual, who directed the first two episodes with Hurst, will reshoot them with Bautista.
Before returning to the set, Bautista will have about two months to prepare for the role. The actor is well acquainted with serious physical exertion thanks to his many years in wrestling, and he recently regained muscle mass for filming in the new version of "Highlander," so there should be no problems.
How the forced production restart will affect the series' schedule is still unknown. Amazon has not yet announced the premiere date for God of War.
