New Heroine and an Old Acquaintance: The Next Story Expansion for Borderlands 4 Will Be Released in October
Gearbox promises to reveal more details on September 3.
2K and Gearbox Software have announced the release date for the second story expansion for Borderlands 4 — Story Pack 2: FL4K and the Last Resort. It will be available on September 10 and will add a new storyline, a tropical location, enemies, loot, and a second Vault Hunter to the game.
The events of the expansion will unfold on the remote island of Providence, located next to an active volcano. Once a resort created for the chosen by the Time Keeper, it has now been turned into a battlefield. The Tediore corporation sent an expedition here to seize the valuable resource, Ordonite. Players will have to team up with FL4K, familiar to Borderlands 3 fans, and save his loyal skag named Mr. Chew.
Tediore will field an entire army against the players. Among the enemies will be soldiers in exoskeletons, who continue to fight even after the organic part of their body is destroyed, as well as heavy mechs with various types of weapons. The latter are capable of buffing allies and calling for reinforcements directly during combat. In the finale, players will have to face Lieutenant Harmony, but reaching her will not be easy: Tediore has turned the Providence volcano into a fortified base.
The location is designed with an emphasis on verticality. Moving through the jungle will be possible using ziplines, allowing players to quickly climb above the treetops, find new positions, and gain an advantage in battles. Another exclusive activity in Providence will be raids on Tediore's digiverse servers — players will be able to penetrate digital space and destroy waves of enemies before they materialize in the real world.
Exploring the island will yield new powerful equipment, including two pearl guns and 18 legendary items.
The main new character of the expansion will be Loveless — a former Anshin hacker who has become an assassin. She uses advanced cybernetic implants and shares her consciousness with a digital virus she created. It can materialize in physical form and act as a deadly extension of Loveless herself.
