Insomniac revealed which game they aimed for when creating Marvel's Wolverine
Insomniac Games announced that the team studied the experience of X-Men Origins: Wolverine from 2009, striving to solve a similar problem - to make Logan's abilities spectacular and authentic.
Insomniac Games revealed that during the development of Marvel's Wolverine, the team carefully studied one of the most highly-rated games about Logan.
This refers to X-Men Origins: Wolverine, released in 2009 based on the movie. Marvel's Wolverine director Mike Daly revealed in an interview that the developers analyzed the game not to copy specific solutions, but to understand similar design problems.
According to Daly, both teams faced one main question – how to convey Wolverine's abilities in a video game format so that the battles were spectacular, enjoyable, and consistent with the original comics.
X-Men Origins: Wolverine is still well-remembered by fans thanks to its brutal combat system, Logan's spectacular regeneration, and dynamic action. Early players believe that Insomniac has also managed to convey the hero's character. The game will be more linear and focused on combat, without the open-world structure of Marvel's Spider-Man.
Marvel's Wolverine will be released on September 15, 2026, exclusively on PS5.
