The third season will be the final one for "Blue Eye Samurai."

Netflix has unveiled the first teaser for the second season of "Blue Eye Samurai" and simultaneously announced the series' renewal for a third season. New episodes will be released in January 2027, with the final chapter of Mizu's story planned for 2028.

The plot will continue immediately after the events of the first season. Mizu will travel to London in search of the two remaining men, one of whom may be her father. In Europe, the heroine will encounter new allies and enemies, as well as a clash with a culture she previously perceived as hostile.

Series creators Amber Noizumi and Michael Green shared that in the second season, they want to show how the trip to Europe will change Mizu:

"It will be interesting to see how Europeans react to her. What will Mizu think of Western culture when she suddenly finds herself within it? Will they all truly turn out to be the monsters she imagines them to be?"

Meanwhile, in Japan, the stories of other characters will continue. Akemi and Taigen will survive at the court of Edo Castle under the rule of the new shogun, and Ringo will try to find his place after the events of the first season. Maya Erskine, Brenda Song, Darren Barnet, and Masi Oka will return to their roles.

Netflix calls the third season an "epic conclusion" to Mizu's journey. Other details of the final chapter have not yet been revealed.

"Blue Eye Samurai" was created by Amber Noizumi and Michael Green, with animation handled by the French studio Blue Spirit. The series debuted in 2023 and received four Emmy Awards, six Annie Awards, and a Peabody Award nomination.
