FromSoftware did not plan to release Elden Ring Nightreign and The Duskbloods literally back-to-back

FromSoftware is not going to change course towards exclusively multiplayer projects. Despite the imminent launch of the PvEvP game The Duskbloods, the head of the studio and game director of the project, Hidetaka Miyazaki, once again emphasized that single-player games remain an important part of the developers' plans.

This is not some big statement about the direction we plan to move in next. We still place a lot of emphasis on single-player content. It just happened that way.

According to Miyazaki, there was no grand plan to release two multiplayer-focused projects in a row. When creating The Duskbloods, the team was inspired by tabletop role-playing and board games. However, many of the invented mechanics were difficult to organically transfer into a single-player format.

These ideas seemed great, but they didn't fit too well into the context of a single-player game.

At the same time, the developer himself found the new experience for FromSoftware interesting. Miyazaki admitted that he enjoys working on a multiplayer game.
