Gamescom organizers are not afraid of competition from GTA VI - they believe players will return after the Netflix presentation

At Gamescom, players will be able to see many new releases, and the upcoming GTA VI presentation is not considered a threat to their show by the organizers.

This year, Gamescom organizers will face a true giant in the battle for players' attention — an extended showing of Grand Theft Auto VI will take place on August 27. The premiere will be on Netflix, and then 6 hours later, the official recording will appear on the Rockstar Games YouTube channel and the game's website.

It's clear that the Rockstar Games project will attract enormous attention, but Gamescom organizers believe their exhibition will not be forgotten. For them, this presentation is not a threat, but another major event.

In an interview with GamesRadar+, Brand Director Stefan Heikhaus admitted that “games like GTA or other big releases of recent years [...] are extremely important. For the gaming industry, they are guiding stars.”

However, Heikhaus believes that players will return to Gamescom after exploring GTA VI content. He explained that their exhibition will feature many other projects, including world premieres:

At events like Gamescom, you can get acquainted not just with one game, but with thousands, or at least hundreds. And that's an important difference. Of course, GTA will take some attention away from the digital version [broadcast] of Gamescom. But I believe that very quickly people will return to Gamescom once they watch the GTA content, because we have so much: so many world premieres, so much new. Hundreds of studios and companies are represented.

Gamescom organizers also noted that not all players focus all their attention on just one game: “most of them are interested in many different games,” so the exhibition may interest them.

Grand Theft Auto VI is scheduled for release on November 19 this year on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S consoles. Rockstar Games and Take-Two have not yet announced the release date or release window for the PC version of the game.
