James Gunn Debunks Rumor of "The Brave and the Bold" Batman and Damian Wayne Film Freeze
Earlier reports suggested that work on the film was suspended until the deal between Warner Bros. Discovery and Paramount was finalized.
James Gunn has debunked the rumor that work on the film "Batman: The Brave and the Bold" has been suspended. Earlier, screenwriter and director Dan Marcus stated that the film's director, Andy Muschietti, allegedly told him that the project was frozen until the deal between Warner Bros. Discovery and Paramount was finalized.
The rumor quickly reached the head of DC Studios. On social media, Gunn doubted that Muschietti could have actually made such a statement and assured that the film's development is ongoing:
"That doesn't sound like something Andy would say. The project is by no means on hold."
After the refutation, Marcus clarified that the conversation took place several weeks ago in Spanish, and Muschietti's words were translated to him by an acquaintance:
"I suppose Andy Muschietti may not know the current state of the project. Or new information has emerged since our conversation."

"The Brave and the Bold" will introduce a new Batman to the DC cinematic universe. Robert Pattinson's version from Matt Reeves' films will continue to exist separately. According to the latest information, the screenplay is being written by "Birds of Prey" author Christina Hodson, and Muschietti is still listed as the director. However, earlier rumors suggested that due to Muschietti's involvement in the "It: Welcome to Derry" universe, Gunn himself might direct the film.
The head of DC Studios also said that the studio does not plan to release "The Brave and the Bold" and "The Batman Part II" in the same year. The sequel with Robert Pattinson has been postponed to February 2028, so the new Batman film should not be expected before 2029.
