Kit Harington Replaces Nicholas Hoult as Gilderoy Lockhart in "Harry Potter" Series

The "Game of Thrones" star previously voiced the character in the audiobook "Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets."

According to Deadline, Kit Harington will play Gilderoy Lockhart in the second season of the "Harry Potter" series. The "Game of Thrones" star will replace Nicholas Hoult, whose participation HBO confirmed less than two weeks ago.

According to the publication, Hoult left the project due to scheduling conflicts. The actor is busy with two other productions, including the "Superman" sequel titled "Superman: Legacy," where he will return to the role of Lex Luthor.

This will not be Harington's first role as Lockhart. He previously voiced the character in the English-language audiobook version of the novel "Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets."

Filming for the second season is planned to begin in autumn 2026. The first season of "Harry Potter" will be released on HBO Max on December 25.
