Red Dead Redemption 2 to get Mexico expansion - fan project to be released before GTA VI

News

Modders have prepared a lot of new content for exploration.

This year, not only the release of Grand Theft Auto VI is expected, but also a large fan-made mod-expansion for Red Dead Redemption 2. The creators of the Nuevo Paraiso project recently published a new trailer.

Enthusiasts will offer players to go to Mexico and rediscover Nuevo Paraiso. Modders recreated the location in such a way as to “organically fit into the plot and chronology of RDR 2, which takes place in 1907.”

You will be able to explore new settlements, search for Easter eggs, meet characters, and study the nature of the state:

Storm new gang hideouts, travel across Mexico by train, rob passing trains, visit local shops, participate in various events, uncover new mysteries, find Easter eggs, observe wildlife, and uncover secrets hidden throughout the state. Every corner offers something new as Nuevo Paraiso expands beyond its original borders.

If nothing changes, the Nuevo Paraiso modification for Red Dead Redemption 2 will be released on September 16, 2026.

Rockstar Games itself has many other things to do right now. On August 27, the studio has scheduled a presentation of “Grand Theft Auto VI: Extended Showcase” — it will first be shown on Netflix, and six hours later it will be published on the official Rockstar Games YouTube channel.

The release of the new game GTA VI is expected on November 19 this year on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S consoles. Nothing has been reported yet about the PC version's release window.
