Sold Air: Those who bought Heroes Of Might And Magic III on Steam didn't get the game and are leaving negative reviews
The Steam release of the cult classic turned out to be very strange.
In late August, Ubisoft Entertainment announced a remake of the cult classic "Heroes 3" and also released the original PC version of Heroes Of Might And Magic III on Steam, which included two expansions — "Blade of Armageddon" and "Shadow of Death". Previously, only the updated HD Edition was available to players on Valve's service.
However, the first buyers were in for an unpleasant surprise: they were literally sold air. When trying to download the game, it showed that it weighed only 23.49 KB. Some assumed that a launcher was being downloaded, which would then download the necessary files upon launch, but everything turned out to be even stranger.
Those who downloaded the Steam version of Heroes Of Might And Magic III eventually received a single executable .exe file, which indeed weighs just over 23 KB.
Players speculate that the developers might have accidentally forgotten to press something during the release of Heroes Of Might And Magic III, so the game was not fully released. As a result, it has "mixed" reviews on Steam — the negativity is specifically related to the situation with the strange launch involving a single .exe file.
Approximately 10 hours later, Ubisoft Entertainment sent an update and fully released "Heroes 3" on PC via Steam — the game can now be downloaded and weighs just over 980 MB.
