Tomb Raider Returns to Its Roots: Extended Gameplay of Legacy of Atlantis Revealed

Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis received extended gameplay, showcasing exploration, combat, and puzzles in a modern version of Lara Croft's first adventure.

At gamescom 2026, the developers showed a lengthy segment of the game. Lara explores ancient ruins, battles dangerous animals, and solves deadly puzzles. The creators are focusing on greater freedom of exploration and more spacious locations.

Legacy of Atlantis will be a modern interpretation of the original Tomb Raider from 1996. The developers are retaining key elements of the classic adventure while redesigning locations, puzzles, and Lara's movement system.

The game is being developed on Unreal Engine 5 by Crystal Dynamics and Flying Wild Hog. Lara will visit Peru, Greece, Egypt, and a mysterious island in the Mediterranean Sea. Her goal will be to find fragments of the powerful Scion artifact.

Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis is set to release on February 12, 2027.
