Resident Evil 2 in medieval Baghdad? Unusual horror game Alkimya unveiled

Alkimya: House of Wisdom, a survival horror game in the vein of Resident Evil 2, set in 13th-century Baghdad amidst the Mongol invasion, was showcased at the Future Games Show.

Events will begin in 1258. Players will take on the role of Yusuf, a foreign alchemist searching for a cure for his dying daughter. His quest leads him to the House of Wisdom, once one of the most important centers of knowledge, now captured by the Mongols. However, something far more dangerous has awakened beneath the building.

The House of Wisdom will function similarly to the police station in Resident Evil 2: players will explore rooms, conserve resources, solve puzzles, and revisit previously explored areas after acquiring new items. A powerful enemy, reminiscent of Mr. X, will also hunt the protagonist.

Combat revolves around alchemy. Yusuf will be able to use various potions to deal damage and disorient enemies. Firearms inspired by Islamic Golden Age inventions will also be available.
