Konami Considers Turning Silent Hill into a Franchise Machine, Releasing New Games Annually
The company is already working on several unannounced projects within the franchise.
The Silent Hill franchise, after years of dormancy, is actively developing again – and Konami expects to significantly increase the number of new projects. Series producer Motoe Okamoto stated that the company would like to release new Silent Hill games every year.
Konami intends to continue experimenting with settings and approaches to creating new installments. According to Okamoto, constantly using the same American setting can limit storytelling possibilities and ultimately bore players.
That's why developers are given the opportunity to adapt Silent Hill to various cultures, environments, and storytelling styles. In recent years, third-party studios, rather than Konami itself, have predominantly worked on the series' games. The company has already collaborated with various developers, and Bloober Team will continue to handle remakes – after the success of the Silent Hill 2 remake, the studio has also been tasked with remaking the original Silent Hill.
Okamoto also confirmed that Konami is working on a large number of as-yet-unannounced projects within the Silent Hill universe.
There are still many projects in development, as well as many unannounced games. So, we obviously cannot go into details.
According to him, Konami wants to prepare "more experiences" and a variety of game formats for fans that will pleasantly surprise the audience.
