1047 Games studio announced the cessation of active development of its two online shooters — Empulse and Splitgate: Arena Reloaded. From September 3, both games will switch from dedicated servers to a peer-to-peer system, where players will be able to host matches themselves.
We believe that people should be able to continue playing their favorite games even after active development has ended.
The developers explained the decision by financial reasons: neither game currently generates enough revenue to cover the costs of maintaining a dedicated server infrastructure.
1047 Games emphasized that they want to preserve the ability to play their projects even after their active support ends. The studio has already applied a similar approach to the original Splitgate. After dedicated servers were shut down last year, the game was switched to P2P connections and remains available, including on consoles.
At the same time, Empulse will receive its last content update. Before switching to P2P, a new map will be added to the shooter, and the game's price will be reduced in all regions. 1047 Games has not yet specified which map will appear in the game or how much the price will change.
