No Microtransactions or Online Play: Ubisoft Makes Rainbow Six Tactics by Old Rules

Ubisoft has revealed new details about Rainbow Six Tactics - the game will be entirely single-player, without microtransactions or online mode.

After the official announcement at Gamescom 2026, Ubisoft revealed more about the new tactical spin-off of the series, inspired by XCOM. The game will not have a store with premium currency and additional items. However, the developers do not rule out the release of classic expansions and story DLCs.

Rainbow Six Tactics will also abandon the grid and movement cell system typical for the genre. Players will be able to freely move operators across maps and customize weapons and equipment. Each operator will receive one primary weapon. It is also possible to enable permadeath for characters, increasing the campaign's difficulty.
