They promised a boycott, but the game sold tens of millions of copies. Hogwarts Legacy breaks records

News 1

One of the most high-profile games of the ninth generation has become a huge commercial success. Hogwarts Legacy by Avalanche Software has surpassed 40 million copies sold, and the project's total revenue has exceeded $2 billion.

The information was published on LinkedIn by Avalanche Marketing Manager Chandler Wood.

This result was achieved thanks to years of player interest in a full-fledged game that allows you to create your own student in a magic school and freely explore the famous castle. Unlike older games released alongside movies, the Warner Bros. Games project offered a standalone and meticulously crafted story that quickly gained popularity.

The excellent financial results, which were supposed to be overshadowed by the alleged boycott from opponents of J.K. Rowling, the creator of the universe, allowed the publisher to greenlight a sequel without hesitation. Warner Bros. has already confirmed that a full-fledged sequel is in active development and will be one of the key projects for the universe's development in the coming years.
