Unlike older games released alongside movies, the Warner Bros. Games project offered a standalone and meticulously crafted story that quickly gained popularity.

The excellent financial results, which were supposed to be overshadowed by the alleged boycott from opponents of J.K. Rowling, the creator of the universe, allowed the publisher to greenlight a sequel without hesitation.
