CD Projekt Red is not going to repeat the Cyberpunk 2077 launch situation and is already paying special attention to The Witcher 4's performance on consoles. According to co-CEO Michał Nowakowski, the game is already running on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
Mr. Nowakowski noted that during Cyberpunk 2077's development, CD Projekt Red primarily focused on PC, expecting to bring the console versions up to par later. This approach ultimately led to serious performance issues after release.
Now the studio adheres to a different principle. According to Nowakowski, developers used to be able to miss one or two control metrics, expecting to address them later. Sometimes this worked, but over time the number of unresolved issues could grow to four or five, making them much harder to fix. In the case of The Witcher 4, CD Projekt Red intends to prevent the accumulation of such problems, so meeting key requirements on all target platforms has become a mandatory condition for further development.
