The full-length anime "Cowboy Bebop: Knockin' on Heaven's Door" will return to Japanese cinemas in 4K format. The re-release will begin on October 30 and will cover cinemas nationwide.
The 4K remaster was prepared under the full supervision of director Shinichirō Watanabe. International screenings have not yet been announced, but recently, remasters of cult anime regularly reach Russian distribution as well, so this possibility remains.
For the film's 25th anniversary, the creators also unveiled a new poster. The characters for it were drawn by the original film's character designer and animation director Toshihiro Kawamoto, the background was prepared by art director Atsushi Morikawa, and the design was handled by Toshiaki Uesugi from Mach 55.
"Knockin' on Heaven's Door" was released in Japanese cinemas on September 1, 2001. The film's events take place between episodes 22 and 23 of the series: Spike and the Bebop crew embark on a search for a terrorist who carried out a biological attack on Mars.
