Chris Evans named another reason why he agreed to play Steve Rogers again in "Avengers: Doctor Doom." At Fan Expo Boston, the actor admitted that he still cherishes the character and is careful about how his story develops.
"I feel at home in this role. I'm not just comfortable with it, it's very dear to me. I care about the fate of all these characters. We wouldn't have done it if they hadn't come up with a really interesting situation for him."
Earlier, Evans said that over eight years, he had declined at least 12 offers from Marvel Studios to bring back Steve Rogers. He was convinced to change his mind by the concept of the new film proposed by Joe and Anthony Russo, as well as the participation of Robert Downey Jr., who played Doctor Doom.
It is still unknown how Rogers will return to the main universe after staying in the past with Peggy Carter. Evans only warned that the Russo brothers have prepared a harsh trial for his hero. According to the actor, the directors love to beat up Steve because they consider a true hero to be someone who keeps getting up after every hit.
"Avengers: Doctor Doom" is set to premiere on December 18, 2026.
