HBO has released a new trailer for the "Harry Potter" series, focusing on the young wizard's first year at Hogwarts. The video showed the Sorting Ceremony, Harry's first Quidditch match, the Mirror of Erised, wizard chess, and the main characters' encounter with a troll.
The creators will also expand the story with scenes that were not in the original novel. The trailer included Ron receiving his Hogwarts letter, a scene with Hermione on the Hogwarts Express, and episodes from the past of Lily and James Potter.
Voldemort also appeared in the video, heading towards the Potters' house. The Dark Lord is only shown from behind for now, and HBO is still keeping the name of the actor who played him a secret.
Harry Potter is played by Dominic McLoughlin, Hermione Granger by Arabella Stanton, and Ron Weasley by Alastair Stout. John Lithgow plays Albus Dumbledore, Janet McTeer as Minerva McGonagall, Paapa Essiedu as Severus Snape, and Nick Frost as Rubeus Hagrid.
Francesca Gardiner, who worked on "Succession," serves as showrunner. Mark Mylod directed several episodes, and Hans Zimmer and the Bleeding Fingers Music collective composed the music for the series. David Heyman, who participated in the creation of all eight "Harry Potter" feature films, is among the executive producers.
The premiere of the first season, adapting the novel "Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone," will take place on December 25.
