32 years later, a classic survival horror game about a medieval village cursed by demons will be released on Steam
PC gamers will soon be able to experience Ecstatica and Ecstatica II.
Publisher SNEG recently announced the PC Steam release date for the cult 90s projects — Ecstatica and Ecstatica II from Andrew Spencer Studios.
These are survival horrors, but over the years, graphics have advanced significantly, so modern players might not be as impressed by the local monsters.
In Ecstatica, a lone wanderer stumbles into a deserted village that turns out to be cursed by demons. In Ecstatica II, the developers expanded on the original's ideas and introduced a more extensive game world and other improvements:
First released in 1997, Ecstatica II expanded on the ideas of its cult predecessor, offering a significantly larger world, an improved combat system, and over 1100 carefully selected cinematic camera angles — all rendered in Andrew Spencer's recognizable ellipsoid style. Now, this undeservedly forgotten masterpiece of the late 90s in the genre will be available digitally for the first time.
Ecstatica and Ecstatica II promise to feature several graphics modes — classic DOS and Windows, as well as Software with "modern resolution" (the list was not specified). Full gamepad support will also be included.
