In GTA VI, you can "break" the morality system if you cause too much chaos

In GTA VI, players will be able to push the crime assessment system to a state where it stops tracking their actions. If enough cruel and chaotic acts are committed, the special Criminal Profile indicator will literally "break".

As it turns out, Rockstar Games borrowed a number of mechanics from Red Dead Redemption 2, including a system that evaluates player behavior.

Instead of the familiar RDR2 honor system, GTA VI will use a Criminal Profile. It determines what kind of criminal the player is. For example, performing a robbery without harming random passersby will gradually move the character closer to a more "professional" type of criminal. Conversely, killing innocent civilians will increase the level of cruelty.

During a presentation at Rockstar North, blogger TGG learned additional details about the system. According to him, the Criminal Profile initially provides for four main types of behavior: Professional, Aggressive, Cruel, and Psychopath.

However, as co-head of the studio Rob Nelson said, there is also a fifth, unnamed state. It is intended for players who go so far in their crimes that the system effectively deems them hopeless.

When a large number of particularly cruel acts are committed, the Criminal Profile logo begins to crack, and then completely shatters. After that, the game stops tracking the player's actions within this system until the end of the playthrough. It will no longer be possible to return to the "light side".

According to TGG, achieving this state will be quite difficult. In essence, this is a kind of option for those who do not want to interact with the Criminal Profile system at all and intend to play the entire game in the most chaotic style.

The mechanic also has a practical purpose. In Red Dead Redemption 2, a player could spend most of the game committing cruel acts, and then relatively quickly raise their honor closer to the end. In GTA VI, Rockstar, apparently, decided not to allow a complete "whitewashing" of reputation after a long period of crimes.

At the same time, Rockstar has not yet revealed all the consequences of choosing one profile or another. It has already been confirmed that the player's actions will affect the development of the story, and some characters will react differently to Jason and Lucia.
