In "Time of Contempt," the world is frozen in anticipation of another war between the Northern Kingdoms and the mighty Nilfgaardian Empire. Trying to understand who is hunting Ciri and why, the witcher Geralt turns to the services of private detectives. Meanwhile, Yennefer teaches the girl the art of magic. The sorceress and her apprentice travel to Thanedd Island, where all the northern sorcerers are to gather. They do not suspect that Thanedd will become the battlefield for a new struggle for power over the Continent.
