Jane Schoenbrun Wants to Direct a New Version of "A Nightmare on Elm Street"

Two versions of the Freddy Krueger story reboot are currently in development simultaneously.

Jane Schoenbrun wants to direct one of the new versions of "A Nightmare on Elm Street." The director of the horror film "I Saw the TV Glow" admitted that she is trying to get a meeting with the project's producers:

Schoenbrun's interest is not only related to the opportunity to work with a famous franchise. Already in fifth grade, she spent a whole month watching all the Freddy Krueger films and has since considered "A Nightmare on Elm Street" the main source of inspiration for her horror films.

However, it is unclear with whom Schoenbrun wants to meet, as two adaptations are currently being developed in parallel. One is being handled by Paramount, which acquired the rights to Wes Craven's original screenplay, while Warner Bros., which holds the international rights to the franchise, is preparing its own version. There are no details yet on either project, and the impending merger of the two studios creates additional uncertainty.
