Tomb Raider: Catalyst will retain Lara Croft from the 2013 trilogy - developers reveal details

Crystal Dynamics confirmed that Tomb Raider: Catalyst and other future projects in the series will feature the version of Lara Croft from the trilogy that began with the 2013 reboot.

At Gamescom, game director Raul Siqueira spoke about the connection of Catalyst with the remake of the original 1996 Tomb Raider, Legacy of Atlantis. Both games will feature the same Lara.

The developers decided to keep the heroine, who was formed during the era of survival, as the basis for future projects in the universe. At the same time, Legacy of Atlantis will remain a standalone game and retain the spirit of the original.

The studio stated that they want to combine nostalgia for classic games with the development of Lara's character, who has evolved from an inexperienced shipwreck survivor to a seasoned adventurer.

The release of Tomb Raider: Catalyst, after being postponed, is now expected only in 2028.
