Sex "cut out" of Halloween: The Game - controversial mechanic disappeared shortly before release

Some players have already experienced the mechanic and want it back.

Players recently gained premium early access to Halloween: The Game. For now, owners of the more expensive edition can play, with a regular release expected in a few days.

Halloween: The Game is based on the cult horror franchise, and early players discovered a specific "sex mechanic" referencing the classics. Two characters could hide in a closet, after which a "heart" icon would appear on the screen, offering the option to start a mini-game.

Players were prompted to press buttons, and after completing this "mini-game," a bonus was awarded. Nothing was shown directly, but characteristic camera shakes made players understand what the characters were doing in the closet.

A video of the mini-game from Halloween: The Game went viral online, and developers soon released a hotfix. The patch description only mentioned bug fixes, but players quickly noticed after installing the update that the game's creators had "cut out the sex."

Players speculate that the developers temporarily removed this mini-game to introduce activation restrictions for certain characters. One of the playable characters is very, very old, and such "interaction" with younger ones raised some questions.

It is likely that modders will be able to restore the mechanic to its original form. Halloween: The Game was released with standard DRM protection, which hackers quickly bypassed, so an earlier build of the game is now available online.
