A StarCraft shooter is in development, but it's not a Destiny analogue - rumor

Some players expect a full announcement of a new StarCraft to happen as early as this month.

Blizzard Entertainment will soon hold a show where developers will talk about the future of World of Warcraft, Diablo, Hearthstone, and Overwatch. It's possible that a new StarCraft might also be shown at the event. Rumors about a game in this franchise have been circulating for a long time: some sources spoke of a real-time strategy game, and there were also versions that it could be a shooter in the spirit of the game-as-a-service Destiny.

Recently, well-known insider and Bloomberg journalist Jason Schreier shared his opinion. During a discussion about the possible format of the new game, he stated: "I wouldn't count on this StarCraft game being anything like Destiny."

Jason Schreier himself spoke about the development of a new shooter in the StarCraft franchise several years ago in a podcast. Since then, there have been no official announcements: this information was shared with Schreier while he was gathering material for his new book. He did not disclose any specific details of this project at the time.

Some players expect a new project in the StarCraft franchise to be unveiled at BlizzCon in September.
